What the heck is going on with the degri and south of nowhere thing. im so lost!! help!?

ok, so lately ive been watching degri, i rly like the episodes with the characters like claire, alli, kc, johnny B, the gay quarter back, the musician who lives alone who's going out with the girl from vampire diaries and holly J. but when i went online and looked it up, i saw a bunch of it grouped with something called south of nowhere. what is the difference, what the heck is going on, im so confused. plz help!
